The Birth of My Sister My Seed, Inc.

I created My Sister My Seed out of a desire to support, defend, inform and protect women and girls, and to create a coalition of women who support other women.

Our mission is to:

“Create a safer and a more just world for women and girls”

The conception of My Sister My Seed began when I saw a picture of three little African American girls with a caption that read, “Little Girls With Dreams Grow Up To Be Strong Women With Vision.”   It stuck with me.  It stuck not just because it was true, but because it was also untrue.  I’ve encountered many women who had dreams as little girls, but those dreams never materialized.  These women dreamt of success, fulfillment, and satisfaction, but all too often, the nightmare of social, personal, and systemic barriers prevented girls from making a childhood dream a grown woman’s reality.

The embryonic idea of My Sister My Seed continued to develop when I learned how sex trafficking was devastating the lives of very young girls.  When I learned that girls as young as 12 years old were being forced and coerced into the American Sex Trade and being sold like property, I felt compelled to help. I learned that girls from every socio-economic background were at risk; however, those most vulnerable were homeless teen, those who live in poverty, and those who suffer from low self esteem and poor self worth.  I knew I had to get involved.

OUR MISSION IS TO

“Create a safer and a more just world for women and girls”

In 2013, My Sister My Seed was born!

There is a social, economic, and physical assault on women and girls in this country.  An alarming 70% of those living in or on the brink of poverty in the US are women and children.  There are 42 million women and more than 28 million kids who suffer economically in the most powerful nation in the world.  To add insult to injury, domestic sex trafficking devastates the lives of very young and vulnerable girls.  We must come together to, “Create a safer and a more just world for women and girls.”

My Sister My Seed is a call to action.  We must answer
